Introduction to five common floor heating pipes

When purchasing floor heating pipes, you will find a wide variety. How to reasonably choose among different pipes, Edsen will introduce the advantages and disadvantages of each pipe.

Five common floor heating pipes

 1. Cross-linked polyethylene aluminum-plastic composite pipe (XPAP): The aluminum layer in the middle has an oxygen barrier function and can also improve the internal and external pressure resistance of the pipe to a certain extent. The shape can be maintained after bending during construction, but the bending radius is relatively large. Delamination may occur during installation or when subjected to instantaneous high temperatures, and the price is relatively high.

 2. PPR pipe: Low price, good high temperature resistance, and weldable, but the pipe wall is thick, making it difficult to bend during floor heating construction, has great resilience, and poor thermal conductivity.

 3. PEX pipes: Including two types: PEXa and PEXb, they are good at low temperatures, are more resistant to high temperatures than PPR, and have good stress cracking resistance. However, raw materials are cross-linked and cannot be recycled, nor can they use hot melt connections. Generally, copper pipe fittings are used. Connecting, it is easy to leak water after long-term use.

 4. PERT pipe: It retains the advantages of PEX pipe, but no cross-linking occurs. The pipe can still be connected by hot melt. The joints are reliable, not easy to leak, and have good flexibility and low temperature resistance.

 5. PB pipe: PB material has excellent properties and is known as "plastic gold". PB pipe is light in weight, has good pressure resistance, impact resistance, low temperature resistance, and high temperature performance. It can be used for a long time at 95 ° C. The maximum use temperature reaches 110 ° C. The flexibility is the best among several common floor heating pipes. It uses hot melt connection and reliable joints, but the price is higher due to raw materials.

From the above comparisons, it can be seen that PERT and PB pipes are the ones with better overall performance among these five common types of floor heating pipes. In particular, PB pipes are more suitable for use in high-end buildings. Additionally, considering the anti-oxidation properties of floor heating pipes as an important feature, it is also possible to choose PERT or PB pipes that come with an anti-oxidation layer (such as EVOH).
